Think before you speak

Too often during a conversation, we unknowingly and unintentionally hurt the other party's feelings. I saw this Chinese stanza the other day, and thought it would be useful for us to keep in mind during a conversation.

和老人溝通,不要忘了他的自尊;
和男人溝通,不要忘了他的面子;
和女人溝通,不要忘了她的情緒;
和青年溝通,不要忘了他的直接;
和兒童溝通,不要忘了他的天真。

English translation:

When speaking to an elderly person, do not forget about his dignity;
When speaking to a man, do not forget about his pride;
When speaking to a woman, do not forget about her mood / emotions;
When speaking to a youth, do not forget about his candor;
When speaking to a child, do not forget about his innocence.
