Recommending this book by Timber Hawkeye, a collection of concise chapters on basic Buddhism (yet secular) principles with 'the intention to awaken, enlighten, enrich and inspire' (and does exactly that).
He covers the following topics: Mindfulness, Love and relationships, Religion/spirituality, Understanding, Success, Anger, insecurities and fears, and Living in Gratitude.
Every chapter ends with a meaningful quote, of which I will provide some examples:
"I am not what happened to me. I am what I choose to become. "
~Carl Jung
~Carl Jung
"If you want your life to be a magnificent story, then begin by realizing that you are the author, and every day you have the opportunity to write a new page."
~Mark Houlahan
~Mark Houlahan
"What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly."
~Richard Bach
"Humility doesn’t mean thinking less of yourself; it means thinking of yourself less."
~C. S. Lewis
"If you recall the happiest moments in your life, they are all from when you were doing something for somebody else."
~Desmond Tutu
"If you recall the happiest moments in your life, they are all from when you were doing something for somebody else."
~Desmond Tutu
It is a short and worthwhile read. Perhaps it will change the way you live your life, who knows? =)
